It's been over ten years. But Maxi Lebelt, now 30, still remembers her first day of training clearly: “I was of course very excited, but also happy to be able to start my training with such a great employer.” She now supports the trainees at HOWOGE herself. Together with around 80 trainers in the company, she looks after over 33 trainees and dual students each year. It was already clear to her during her training that she definitely wanted to stay at HOWOGE. After completing her training, Maxi Lebelt decided to study business administration with a focus on human resources and also worked as a working student in the HR department at HOWOGE. “I had so much fun with it, I wanted to keep doing it,” says the Brandenburg native. Today she shares the joy with her trainees and students and is still convinced that the housing industry is a promising industry: “There is always habitation.” That was also an argument for her in favor of training at HOWOGE. However, there is a lot more on the plus side for potential interested parties: “HOWOGE was recognized by the IHK for its excellent training quality,” she explains. One-to-one support, flexitime, 37 hours per week or the possibility of part-time training invite you to start working towards the future in the company. School grades are not necessarily crucial for applicants. Rather, the training supervisor pays attention to practical experience, social commitment and complete application documents.
The real estate industry bears a great responsibility.

In elementary school, Daniel Hernández Garciá wanted to be an architect. Even back then, he was interested in building and designing. After school he studied electrical engineering and quickly realized: That's not it. His dream from his elementary school days comes back to him. He finally decides to train as a real estate agent in Berlin. “That was very demanding and valuable. But I didn’t want to stop yet,” says the 26-year-old. Through the portal of the Berlin University of Economics and Law (HWR) he came across HOWOGE as a partner company for business studies with a focus on real estate. “HOWOGE was my first choice because it is a municipal company and is therefore very socially oriented. There are even neighborhood helpers, others didn't have that.” From the very beginning, it is important to the student to invest in a livable environment through his actions. He passes the application process and finally writes his bachelor's thesis about social evaluation criteria in the housing market. When this magazine appears, Daniel Hernández García will no longer be a student and will be using the guaranteed year of continued employment to gain professional experience at HOWOGE. “The real estate industry has such a great responsibility, especially when it comes to sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions, which the building sector is responsible for - I find that exciting.” For him, the real estate sector is one of the most important economic factors in Germany and a great lever that can be used to achieve a lot. Bringing this into harmony with social compatibility is a task that he would like to take on.

When asked how it felt when Klara Lehmann received the promise of training as a real estate agent from HOWOGE, the 18-year-old pauses for a moment. She was really happy. But she can't really put it into words (yet). The numbers speak for themselves: There were 280 applications for the 2023 training class. In the end, twelve of them were able to prevail in the assessment center and are now starting their three-year training. The Brandenburg native is beaming and raving about her first days in the company. It was always clear to her that she wanted to go to Berlin. She is now allowed to attend the vocational school in Friedenau two to three times a week and initially works in the customer center. “I like direct contact with people,” she says, and she already knows that being a real estate agent is the right thing for her: “It’s a really exciting job with a future and lots of career prospects.” And not only that. Her training cohort is a great group , where friendships are already being formed.
