An eventful year is coming to an end and many people are unsettled by war, energy shortages, climate change and inflation. These are all major challenges that we can all feel in our private and family lives. Many people are particularly worried about the rising costs.
But we should see that together we can also master these challenges. And a lot has already been done for this. Above all, as a tenant, you have already made a major contribution by using heating, electricity and water sparingly. We thank you very much for that.
As your housing company, we put a lot of effort into negotiating favorable contracts for your energy supply and also make great technical efforts to ensure that this energy supply is secured and causes as few costs as possible.
The state of Berlin has made extensive agreements with its state-owned housing companies, including HOWOGE, so that your rents remain stable or only rise much less than all other costs. These agreements also include a termination moratorium until December 31, 2023, so you don’t have to worry about losing your home if you work with us to find solutions in the event of payment difficulties. With the Housing Allowance Plus Act, which will come into force on January 1st, 2023, a large number of households will be able to receive subsidies for rent and heating costs. Furthermore, we will comply with the request of the State of Berlin and will not announce any rent increases with effect until the end of 2023.
